Dish & Tell
A Bewitching Italian
Wed Apr 17 2019
Ciao! The Italian in me (my name, actually) draws me to one of the newest Italian spots in Summerlin. La Strega (meaning the witch) is where chef Gina Marinelli delivers Italian comfort, including pizzas with a crust that is, can we say, “wicked”? A prelude to pizza is Hamachi served crudo-style with chili gremolata, Anchovy Crostini is served with sweet and zesty orange peel for a fresh, textural experience. The Bucatini Genovese is a stand-out dish, paired with a nice bottle of Macon-Lugny Les Charmes single vineyard unoaked Chardonnay that also goes well with the earlier courses. Chef also paints classic dishes with different media such as the reimagined Rigatoni Bolognese with wild boar, or the Chianti Affogato, a vanilla bean gelato with a Chianti float - oh it’s a must, especially with gelato made locally at Gelato di Milano.
